The Flower of our hearts - Roselyn Xiu Jie
Born on October 29th 2006, in the province of Guangdong China. Carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us by God's very own hands; a Dream fulfilled, a Prayer answered, a Family created.

As recommended by the Newsgroup dncMaart2005, we already made an appointment in February for this afternoon with dr. Rupert at the UMC Utrecht to have a medical check-up for Roselyn.
He supposed to be one of the best pediatrician, specialized in Chinese adoption children. We arrived in time for the consultation, but the doctor was about 45min. late. At the mean time, his nurse already gave us a sunnary of what to aspect and an explaination of the procedure. She gave Roselyn on the back of both hands anaesthetic plasters, so that it will not hurt when they give her an injection to draw some blood. The whole week, we had to collect faeces samples (three test tubes) and some urine samples. Although the Chinese Wellfare institute issued a detailled medical report, it is good to double check ;-) On the 22nd of May, we will receive a phone call (after 17:00) to tell us the results of the examination. Dr. Rupert will notify us immediately, before the 22nd, if they discovered anything not right. Let's hope for the best. Tuesday, April 25, 2006
I wondered how she got in there! The problem was getting out of the basket which was on a folding chair. . . . . .
Well, there's only one thing to do, and that's what all children will do still having limited vocabulary: screaming ''Pa pa, ah yoooo ...!" And papa not quite impressed with her yelling, first grabbed his camera and made this photo. Then helped her out of the basket, Roselyn looked at me and gave me her mischievous smile. I could almost heAr her thinking, "hmmm, yelling does motivate parents to do what I want." ![]() Monday, April 24, 2006
Today afternoon (12:00) we had an appointment with the GGD (Community Health Service) in Amstelveen for a TBC check up. Foreign immigrants must a kind of bill of health concerning TBC. For this the GGD made an X-Ray of Roselyn, she was very patient and obedient during tghe X-Ray sessions.
A specialist will take a look at the Photo, when in doubt they will make a supplementary appointment for further investigation or treatment recommendations. We really hope she's all OK. Thursday, April 20, 2006
I am full-time with Roselyn till beginning of september 2006. This is made possible because I safe alot of leave plus 3 months of maternity and one month of adoption leave.
Roselyn is so attached to me that I still do not find time to write. We are still sleeping with her in her room. Till today she still has nightmares (not everyday) and wakes up to look for me and I have to calm her down. I think this happens if she experiences new contacts and she does not know how to deal with and she was scared or unsure. Playing at home gives her alot of happiness, security and confidence. She is very curious at alot of things. She keeps observing me and Rudy very closely. She communicates with us in her own ways (by pointing, pulling our hands and go with her or crying) to show her things. She is not talking any cantonese of mandarin till today. She will not be satisfied till an explanation or having seen and felt and experiments with the things she just got hold of. Since the very begining we speak to her in dutch. She seems to understand us and in fact she is saying a few dutch words like : this, toilet, upstairs, very goed, papa, turn around, bye-bye, see you again. She understands me in dutch if I say: sleep, doing big business (poep), drinking, eat-up, sit properly, do it on your own, go up or down, walk, stop, come here, give mama/papa a kiss, sayang (give me a soft touch on the face), put your shoes on, put your shoes away, put your socks on, put on your jacket, brush your teeth, put your toys away, hold the spoon on your right hand, try not to suck your tumb, dirty, throw away in the rubbish bin, do not do it (we do struggle on this because she is stubborn). Mothering is an experience that I take it naturally ... my feelings for her is like I gave birth to her right from the first day when she walks timidly to me (hand-over from her nanny) on the 20th of March 2006 in the adoption office in China. Giving her all the love an assurance that I can offer to make her feel secure and happy. The first 10 days in China was very emotional when I hear crying in her bed at night sadly.... it was broken nights for the three of us. But now we are living happily each day enjoying mothering and fathering her to be a happy, independent and ethical person. We enjoy her smile, laughter, her sweet caringness for us, kindness and charmingness to other people (she gives her toys or food willingly if asked for), intelligence, obedience and cheekyness. We hope to be able to introduce Roselyn to my family and friends in Malaysia when the three of us have settled down. When ? No idea yet. Monday, April 03, 2006
After our return to Holland, we have to begin the Dutch formalities within three days:
1. Register Roselyn at our Haarlemeermeer Community Hall. 2. Register Roselyn at the Immigration and Naturalisation Office (IND) 2. Inform the K&T foundation (within 8 days we must send copies of the Documents of Roselyn) 3. A TBC bill of health Furthermore we have to visit the Child specialist and engage a lawyer to formaly finalise the adoption process by court according to the Dutch Civil Laws. Luckily we already made these appointments before our trip. We still have a lot to do yet ! So the three of us went first thing Monday morning to enter Roselyn as an inhabitant of Hoofddorp/Haarlemeermeer and to register her at the Foreign Office . The friendly clerk told us that we first have to make an appointment for this and that the Community Hall also takes care of the IND registration process. We manage to make an appointment for toda, wednesday 5th of April. A lady Civil officer said the office must first verrify (by experts) the legalized documents and this will take approx. one week. The funny thing is that the documents (Adoption, Abandon and Birth certificates) were legalized by the Dutch consulate in Beijing. The Haarlemeermeer Community Hall will be responsible for: - Community registration of Roselyn - Initiating and managing the Immigration process by the IND - Submitting a request to the GGD (Community Health Service) of TBC declaration and vaccination registrations. After a few weeks, Roselyn will be entered in the registered as an inhabitant of the Haarlemmermeer Community. The IND will take a maximun of six month to process her Dutch Immigration Permit. |
